What type of inductive proximity sensor is best for mounting at the same height inside a metal mounting plate?

Because an unshielded inductive proximity sensor has a protruding detecting head, it’s able to sense objects in front and to the sides of the head. However, this can cause false detection of the surrounding metal mounting plate. Shielded inductive proximity sensors only detect objects on the front detection face, so are unaffected when mounting at the same height inside a metal mounting plate.
