From which directions can objects approach inductive proximity sensors?
For shielded (also known as flush) inductive proximity sensors (IPS), the object is only detected in front of the sensing face. So, the object can approach from inline or perpendicular to this face. For unshielded (also known as non-flush) IPS, the magnetic field is much wider, so it can detect objects approaching in front and along the sides of the sensing face.
