Which materials can an inductive proximity sensor detect?

They can detect ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The more iron a metal contains, the better the sensor’s magnetic field can detect the object. So, for non-ferrous metals such as brass, copper, aluminium and even some stainless steels, you’ll need to apply a derating correction factor to the sensing distance. Check with your sensor instructions for more information.
