To capture data from an 8703A, which is in LIF (Logical Interchange Format) and convert it into MS-DOS format to be read into a word processor requires LIF Utilities. These programs only run on an IBM-compatible PC running DOS, Windows 3.1 and below, or Windows 95. It will not run on Windows NT. NOTE: It is assumed that a 9122 disk drive is configured to work with the 8703A. Required Equipment: 9122 LIF Disk Drive IB Cable Double density floppy disk IBM compatible PC Microsoft Word '97 Keysight Technologies LIF Utilities Format a double density floppy disk On the 8703A, press SAVE, [STORE TO DISK], [DEFINE STORE] Select the type of data you wish to save on disk with the instrument state: - press [DATA ARRAY ON] stores the error-corrected data - press [RAW ARRAY ON] stores the raw data (ratioed and averaged) - press [FORMAT ARY ON] stores the formatted data - press [GRAPHICS ON] stores display graphics Press [DISK FILE FORMAT], [FORMAT BINARY/ASCII] so that ASCII is underlined Press [RETURN], [RETURN] Press [STORE FILE1] Remove the floppy from the 9122 and insert it into the PC's disk drive. Using 's LIF utilities copy the file to the PC's hard drive. Using Microsoft Word '97, open the file on the hard drive with "Recover Text from Any File" NOTE: If another word processor is used to open the file, there will be many unwanted binary characters throughout the text. Word '97 automatically filters out these characters. Save the file as text. This file can be opened with a spreadsheet, such as Microsoft Excel, so that a data point is inserted into each cell.
