Can I Get Some Help Selecting the Right Calibration Options?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)SummaryKeysight Cal, Standard Compliant, with Uncertainties, Accredited; How to understand the differences and how to choose which is best for your requirements.QuestionCan you help me understand the differences in the calibration options available from Keysight?AnswerI’m going to first refer you to one of our web pages, https://www.keysight.com/main/editorial.jspx?cc=AL&lc=eng&ckey=2364653&id=2364653. There is a ton of valuable information here, but the last page of the Americas Calibration Services - Product Fact Sheet  available at that link is key, especially the section called Which calibration deliverables meet your needs? What is important to point out is that you are getting the same level of performance verification and calibration with all of these choices, but you will be getting much more documentation when you add the uncertainties part, and then we use a different approach to declaration of a pass or fail condition when using guard banding that increases the confidence you can have in your measurements. Be sure to check out the article that directly addresses guardbanding. For a deeper explanation about what you will see in the documentation and how we determine pass or fail, or something in between, check out the document at this link: https://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/5991-4233EN.pdf?id=2447725 As for accredited calibrations on new instruments, where the 1A7 option is shown that it is not accredited, it usually only means that the lab at the factory has not been visited by an independent accreditation body to be verified to meet all of the requirements of the standard to which you may require, for all the parameters tested in the calibration procedures for that instrument. If an accredited calibration is possible anywhere within Keysight, and is required on a newly ordered product, we have the ability to redirect the product from the factory to a lab that has the necessary accreditation in order that the required calibration can be performed prior to shipment to the end user. Ultimately, many projects do not require any of the higher levels of calibration data and the standard Keysight calibration service is more than adequate. Many Aerospace and Defense projects, the medical field, nuclear power, and the auto industry will have contracts that stipulate the levels of calibration documentation and accreditation required, so the choice may already be made for you.
