Can I convert a 16500-series logic analyzer configuration to a 16900-series logic analyzer configuration?
Can I convert a 16500-series logic analyzer configuration to a 16900-series logic analyzer configuration?
Note that not all of the 165XX cards that were used in 16500 frames will work in the 1690XA/B and 168xxA frames. The only cards presently supported in the 1690XA frames are:16910/11A 16950A 16753/54/55/56A 16750/51/52A 16750/51/52B 16740/41/42A 16760A 16720AYou may be able to translate the config files from 16500 frames/cards if the 165XX card also works in a 16700 frame. To do this conversion you would have to load the 16500/165XX config into the same card type in a 16700 frame and then save the 165XX card config in the 16700 frame. Then you would take the saved 16700/165XX card config and use a 16700 config translator utility that resides in the 16900A application that will translate 16700 type card config files to generic 16900A '.xml' config files. The generic '.xml' config files can then be loaded into modules in the 1690XA frames. This utility does a good job of converting format labels and bit assignments but will not always convert the trigger setups. The config translator on the 16900 can be accessed by: Start -> All Programs -> Keysight Logic Analyzer -> Utilities -> 167xx Configuration File Translator. Here is the info from the 16900A 'HELP' that explains how to translate 16700 card config files to 16900 generic card (.xml) files._______________________To translate 16700-series logic analyzer configuration filesFrom the Windows Start menu, choose Start > All Programs > Keysight Logic Analyzer > Utilities > 167xx Configuration File Translator. In the 16700 Configuration File Translator dialog, enter the name of the 16700 configuration file you want to translate. When you have a 16700-series logic analysis system with modules in slots B and C, you get three files when you save a configuration: an xxx.__B, xxx.__C, and xxx.___. Of these three files, only the xxx.__B and xxx.__C can be translated into XML. The xxx.___ cannot be translated. Type in the name you want to save the new configuration files under. Files are saved in the same directory as the input file unless otherwise specified. The output files are in XML format, and can be opened like other XML configuration files.Click Convert.Information not converted from file: * All data. * Any tool information. * Interface layout. * Marker information. To translate multi-module configurationsFor example, if you have a 16700-series logic analysis system with modules in slots B and C: On the 16700-series logic analysis system, save the configuration to file "setup1". This generates files setup1.__B, setup1.__C and setup1.___. (The setup1.__B and setup1.__C files each contain the setup for a single module. In order to translate the entire two-module configuration, you need to translate both files.)Copy the setup1.__B and setup1.__C files to the logic analyzer or personal computer on which the Keysight Logic Analyzer application runs. (You can ignore the setup1.___ file.)Use the configuration file translator (as described above) on setup1.__B and setup1.__C to generate the files setup1B.XML and setup1C.XML.In the Keysight Logic Analyzer application, open the setup1B.XML file. When asked "Do you want to clear all modules before loading?", click Yes.Open the setup1C.XML file. When asked "Do you want to clear all modules before loading?", click No.In general, clear all modules when loading the first XML file, and do not clear all modules when loading subsequent XML files. As you can see, we do not have an easy direct method for converting 16500/165XX card files into 16900A card config files.165XX cards that were not supported in the 16700 cannot be converted using the above process since the 16900 config translator only works with 16700 card configs.
